Aquasignal compatable navigation lights

I have received 3 of Aquasignal navigation lights from this company in Aus.

They are rated at 3 watts and when I tested them they appeared to be brighter than the 25 watt bulbs supplied with my Aquasignal trilight.

I am thinking of fitting a U.K. supplied led (1.7 watts) for the anchor light and the more powerful Aus. lamp (3 watts) for the tri light, steaming and sternlights.

Annex 1 to the Col Regs sets out the standards for Chromaticity of white lights amongst other things - are you sure that an LED lamp burning at 5500k meets the standard that an incandescent tungsten filamant lamp burning at 2800k - 3000k meets?

To be frank, I'd want to see a certificate of compliance with the various Annex 1 standards before I swapped my existing lamps for LEDs.

Agree with what you are saying, EXCEPT that Annex 1 was last updated in 1972 when only filament bulbs were available and so is naturally biased towards their characteristics. For a coloured light, the lense itself will obviously modify the chromaticity characteristics of the bulb and I doubt if you would detect the difference between LED and incandescent

I would not be unduly concerned about the chromaticity provided the bulbs meet the regulations in other respects (eg visibility)
