There is nothing I like better than to relax back in a plush chair and dreamily watch tropical fish darting about in an aquarium. Has anyone installed one in a yacht and if so do the fish suffer mal de mer when the vessel is underway?

Listen guys, I ask a serious question and you treat it flipperly erm I mean flippantly .. will the friggin fish get seasick as I bowl merrily along?

Oooooooooooooooooooh! Pardon me! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Well if you want serious have you even considered the drain on the batteries of keeping the said finny ones in the tropical heat they need in order to remain right way up? Well have you? Bet you haven't. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No they won't. Have kept mackerel in a large tub and they were quite happy until I cooked them. Same with scallops, lobsters and crabs, all fine but get a bit hot under the collar when cooked.

Which is very unreasonable of them because that is what they are there for in the first place (or plaice, as it's Jimi's thread!)!

if an inferior recaptcle is acceptable, sardines are ok .... they're a bit shy, though, hence the tin

You could even make the fish work for their keep. Instal two aquaria, one on each side of the saloon, as ballast tanks. It requires a fairly sophisticated device to persuade the fish and the water to migrate to the windward tank, of course, but that could be designed to add to the aesthetic appeal.

Or, if you install a long glass tube below the waterline with an inlet at the bow and an outlet at the stern, you could get propulsion for free.

Plus bow fish thruster and a stern fish thruster - all very ecumenical and environmental.

"Sorry, dear, shan't be back for a day or two; just got to feed the fish and exercise them...."

Then you ought to teach the fish to eat carrots so you could tempt them to swim and make the water run. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
