I cannot think of any reason why not. You should be able to lift the unit out after disconnecting the flanges on the gearbox and shaft. Most shaft seals will accept the likely shaft movement but if there is a leak it would be easy to provide a temporary support to hold the shaft in its normal position. With a packed gland you can slide the shaft back to make releasing the Aquadrive somewhat easier. With a PSS, for example, the allowable shaft movement is far less but should be sufficient although you would need to ensure that the shaft did not slide too far forward, which would separate the faces.
Yes of course, though depending on your shaft seal type I might be inclined to put a Jubilee clip on the shaft to stop it sliding out. On (real) Minis, punctured CV joint bellows were often patched with a bicyce repair kit - and passed the MOT test.
