Hi,

Its been a long 6 years since I was last on the water in my own boat, and i am now ready for my next dip into boat ownership, be it this time i am looking for motor instead of canvas.

I have viewed several boats recently and two models take my fancy, Merry fisher 805 semi displacement, which info is ready available, the other model is an Aquador 25` cabin version

Would appreciate advice re what would be a fair price to pay for a 2004 Aquador 25 cabin, with a KAD32 on leg?

the boat looks well looked after for a 10 year old, service history, last engine/ leg full service 2 years ago, boat has done
only 120hrs, (to low in my opinion), should the low engine hours be a cause for concern? Would you advise an engine survey?

I have looked for info on the KAD 32 and my general understanding is that it was a well respected engine, with good power output, rated 170hp. My other concern is would you consider the boat to be under powered with the KAD 32 ? the brokers specs are suggesting 20knts cruising and max 28 full throttle . I an unable to find a like for like engine/boat spec to compare, other Aquador 25` newer models have 260+ hp Any thoughts on this would be most helpful.

The vessel is advertised for £49,950 a tri axle two year old road trailer is available by separate negotiation

Hi,

Firstly both the Aquador and the MF805 are cracking little boats. I personally prefer the general finish of the Aquador - it feels a bit more solid and uses higher end high gloss cherry woodwork and better fabrics. That said, they cost a damn sight more to start with so fair is fair.

The 25C tips the scales at 2900kg wihtout any gear - all up its going to be 3500kg. With the KAD32 its not going to be a rocket ship but should still achieve a decent planing speed in the low to mid 20 knt range, with a falt out clean bum speed of somewhere just shy of 30 knts in good conditions. A more popular (but expensive) engine choice was the 230Hp KAD43 6Cylinder engine but this added quite a few £££ to the original price. Later boats had the D4 range up to 300Hp.

The 25c has lots going for it - deep protected walkaround decks, Hulls are good, they can take a bit of weather, and fitted equiptment is of good quality.

£50k sounds like a reasonable ask for the boat. there arent many around so if you have your heart set on one there is not much choice. other boats that might also be worth considering in the £50k price bracket are:

Nimbus 280: Advantages are they are a bigger boat. Still single engine on shaft but have a bit more space and an extra berth. Will be older, a 1999 model here asking £54k http://www.yachtworld.co.uk/boats/2000/Nimbus-280--Coupe-2373789/United-Kingdom

Antares Serie 9: The Beneteau take on the Merry Fisher Peche Promenade type boats. In my opinion, has a nicer more cruisy (read less fishy) fit out than the 805 Jeanneau. Lots available around the 50k budget.

Skilso 975 Actic: Norweigen boats along the same lines as the Nimbus. Rare in the UK but that means when they come up they can be hard to shift and can be had for sensible money.

Hope that all helps
