Any views on this boat or on Aquadors in general?

It's about twice my budget and not really what I started out looking for (7-ish metre cuddy), so I am being true to my normal decisive self. However, I find myself strangely drawn to the boat and I am sure that my Bank Manager would understand and co-operate, in the finest traditions of the Banking industry, should I decide that I need one ;-).

I assume, being Scandanavian, that they have the traditional build and seakeeping virtues of their ilk but would be interested to hear corroboration or dissent.

In brief, and without repeating my previous post, I want it for days out/occasional overnighting in the Solent/Poole area for myself, SWMBO and 2 smallish kids, all of whom are used to roughing it and don't complain (much).

Any comments much appreciated.

I am a Brit who is lucky enough to live in Scandinavia and get payed to work on boats, and the Aquador range is very popular over here. They are well put together and are designed for all weather practicality. They are very good in the rough and don't have any real vices. Which engine are you going for? forget the Volvo 31 series its a real sluggard, I know I work for Volvo Penta. My friend bought a Skibsplast 655 (another very seaworthy boat) and had the 31 ripped out and we fitted a Kad 32, what a transformation. If you can afford it thats the one to go for.

good luck Steve

Looked at Aquadors a few times, firstly before I bought my previous Skibsplast 700 Hardtop (which was a lovely little boat) and more recently before I bought my present Antares 760.

They seemed well made and nicely finished, but each time I was put off by the outdrives, I just like the simplicity of shaft drive. At the end of the day it is all a matter of choice.

Have spoken to a couple of Aquador owners and they seemed well pleased with them. I tought they were made in Ireland?

Hi,
I bought an Aquador 26HT last May and am very very pleased.Great boat, looks good ,handles very well and feels very safe on the sea. They have made some minor changes since mine which are all for the better.
I think MBM did a test on the 23 which must be worth a look.....hope I am right
Get Sea Ventures to give you a sea trial you wont regret it.
PM me if you have any questions

Some of them were built in Ireland for a short while but production was rapidly moved back to Scandinavia. I was advised to avoid the Irish built examples if I was buying 2nd hand. Otherwise excellent I believe. Apart from the price my only other grouse is that you have to poke your head up through the sun-roof if you want to stand at the helm.
Have you considered a Botnia Targa 23? This is more practical than the Aquador and has a similarly high reputation for build quality and seakeeping. The SB range from Finland is similar in concept to the Botnia but has shaft drive. They have only recently arrived in the UK and I don't know how they compare build quality wise. These latter two are supplied through Wessex Marine who regularly advertise in the boating press.

How much do you want to spend? I've bought another 23ft Scandinavian boat of the deep-V walkaround type with very safe deep bulwarks and a wheelshelter, that is a lot cheaper than these. It only has a basic cuddy however and so is not as suitable as the above if you regularly overnight. Send me a PM if you want further details.

I know of a cheaper Scandinavian alternative

I have been on a 23 and was very impressed with its handling and seakeeping. Its also a good looking boat (IMHO). Another Scandinavian boat which is now being imported is the Finnmaster 7050. If your looking for something around 7mtrs with a bit more accomodation than a cuddy this boat is also worth a look. www.fym.co.uk
