The blub in my masthead light has gone, for the life of me I cannot see how to open the light unit to replace! It seams to be all one moulding with no way in, have removed the top 2 scerews to remove the steet plate but still cant get to the blub. Any ideas?

Try unscrewing the base - I think its only half a turn and 'click'.

From memory the lense is either held on by a collar between the base unit and the lense which needs to be rotated half a turn-ish. Or, rotate the lense unit quarter of a turn anti clockwise when looking from the top. Suggest a smear of vaseline onth collar or lugs when replacing.

Older ones, like mine, are held by a screwed collar below the main main body but more recent ones are a quick relase type. The whoe body comes off rather than having acces from the top.

Are there two little lugs near the bottom that have to be pressed in? Or is it a bayonet type of fitting? Take a look at a new one in a chandlers.

Hunter 26?

If so it will be an Aqua Signal 40. Peter Poland always fitted an all round white on the smaller boats which in conjunction with your bow combination was (just) legal but it was fitted to save on one bulb's consumpyion.

Take a look at the exploded view here . It should show you what's what.

Thanks for that, I just cant get it apart to get to the blub, (maybe the last owner superglued it together? Which parts come apart?

Which one are we talking about?

Is it the all round white or the tricolour bulb that you want to change?

Take a look at this picture and see if you can identify it from the model number or just the appearance

I suspect that it is either type 4 or more likely type 5 (which is what we had on our Horizon 30) They are "Quickfits". You (as far as I can remember) untwist the ring at the bottom and lift off the lens unit.

For a better view, save the image to your computer and view it in some graphics application - MS Paint is good enough.
