Need some advice on an AQA41B. I have a 23 Ft Glasply that I pulled an AQD40A 6 Clyinder out of. I made the decision to just bracket the boat and put an outboard on. Today I found a 41 Series set of motors for 3K. One is a 41P that has a knock and the other is a 41B they claim ran fine when they pulled them to repower. I know the Aqd40a has several obsolete parts that made me decide away from the diesel. Are the 41B parts hard to come by? Will it bolt in in place of the AQD40A? He is unsure of the hours but it looks in the pics pretty nice. Supposedly it was a replacement for the other 41P they had in the boat originally.

Having had both engines,, suspect that parts for the 41B are probably easier to obtain.
The internal heat exchanger matrix for the 40A is still available from VP but at an eyewatering price. You could easily sell that on to recoupe costs ,there simply are not any around for sale.
The much simpler and more robust heat exchangers for the 41B can usually be picked up secondhand.
Pretty certain the 41B can be simply dropped onto the empty 40A engine mounts ?
In theory the 41B is a much cleaner engine with less smoke on start up due to a modified cylinder head.

Replacement 41B originally outdrive or shafts ?
If outdrive, check the number of splines on the damper plate of the" new "engine match the jackshaft of you outdrive, before attempting to connect outdrive to engine in boat.
Damper plate is a easy swap.

The Txxxxx engines are normally mated to gearboxes and may have different drive plates and manifold exhaust
they are also more powerful and presumably more torque so best check the drive that the drives are suitable

Will do. I had the AQ sterndrive with the VP 280-DP. In the pictures I can see he has the bell housings with tail shafts. Asked him to send me a straight on picture of the gear side so I can verify splines. Sounds like his was geared with a 280-DP as well
