Have you tried getting an estimate from a pro delivery company or two? Better than the...um....guesses on here. Thanks for the suggestion but Long Covid means that days of sustained effort are out of the question.

I will do in time, but I'm happy with the rough estimates some of which have been well informed.Have you tried getting an estimate from a pro delivery company or two? Better than the...um....guesses on here.
I got a very good price from Shiply this year, less than half the other quotes. It was a professional boat transporter on an empty return. I was flexible on dates (one month window) which helps. If you request it through Shiply then you will get competing quotes, the best probably has a return load.
Glad it worked out for you, it was a waste of time for me!I got a very good price from Shiply this year, less than half the other quotes. It was a professional boat transporter on an empty return. I was flexible on dates (one month window) which helps.
Plus it wouldn't hurt contacting marinas at (say) Kip; Largs or James Watt Dock asking if there is a boat going south. You may get a cheaper deal going north before or after....Yes John Shepherd would be an ideal option for delivery to Scotland.
As noted above, delivery to a Clyde marina cheaper than if need to take further NW, particularly as they regular loads from Largs/Kip
Good advice.Plus it wouldn't hurt contacting marinas at (say) Kip; Largs or James Watt Dock asking if there is a boat going south. You may get a cheaper deal going north before or after....
That sounds exceptional value.I moved a 30 ft yacht with John Shepherd last year from Scotland (Clyde Marina) to Solent (Gosport) for £1800. I found the service exceptionally professional, absolutely no problem.
I have looked at this in the past and realised that the quoted delivery charge is only part of the cost, which overall can easily double once you take into account:All sailing plans have been on hold for 18 months because of Long Covid. One plan was to relocate to Scotland. That's too big an undertaking for me at the moment so I'm wondering about the cost of delivery or transport. Just a rough idea would be useful.
I was flexible with the dates and waited until they had a return lift back to Scotland (which was actually with a few days of when I wanted the move). That sounds exceptional value.
Hence why it was said earlier in this thread, for a medium length delivery it may depend where the boat is currently. If ashore with mast down the opposite would apply- extra costs to launch for sea delivery.I have looked at this in the past and realised that the quoted delivery charge is only part of the cost, which overall can easily double once you take into account:
Lift Out at starting port
Unship Mast
Load onto the lowloader
Offload from low loader at destination
Re-rig mast etc
Relaunch
VAT
I could also add, remove sails, and disconnect and reconnect electrics, instruments etc.
