Approx fuel consum, expert please

I know the forum has many experts, anyone give me an idea of the hourly fuel consumption at say 20-25 nts on a Boston Whaler with twin 200hp 2 stroke outboards. I believe its about 26ft long cheers


Whilst writing I also need an idea on the fuel con at same speed on 9.7m Renegade jet boat with single inboard 350hp CAT diesel.

Is the ballpark something around a gallon per hour per 10hp?

150hp Yamaha OB is around 26/30 lph at aroud 25kn (18/20 lph @ around 18/19 knots) I know its not comparible to just add a bit for the difference to 200hp and double for the twins as engines are working at lower rate, but I bet it's not far off that...

Above figures are our current fuel consumption on a 25ft sports cruiser.

So A guestimate 60-80 lph @ 25 kn

no idea about the inboard jet....

For the outboards, could easily be 15-20 gallons per hour PER ENGINE! depending on how fast you are going.

I would plan for 45 - 50 lts an hour on the CAT and hope it comes in under.

65-70l/hr on each engine at WOT (wide Open Throttle). A sensible cruising speed should reduce this by a third.

Boston Whaler actually publish figures on their website (www.whaler.com) but you may be better off not looking....

this summer I did a trip together with a friend, and I remember we had approx the same consumption in LITERS,

BUT,

While I was driving a 28ft 3ton boat with twin VP190HP diesel (40l/hr)

He was driving a 21ft 0.7ton Rib with an old 2stroke 150HP johnson engine
(40l/hr petrol for just one engine)


for sure I would walk away from a boat with older 2stroke petrol engines

Fuel consumption

A Norwegian test from the 90s shows that a 200hp 2 stroke can use between 65 to 80liters per hour at wot.That means 130-160l/h on two engines at wot If you reduse engine speed by 20%the engine power is down to 57% (X^2.5 curve) The consumpion shuld then be around 75l/h in best case!
If you can reduse the speed 30% the engine power is at 40%
That means about 50l/h
