Wondered if anyone had come across any good apps ?
Tide Pro and Carrot the only ones I can find.

Rather slim pickings it seems.

Try even using your Apple watch as a watch, on a wet day, first. Mine has a mind of it's own on a typical scottish day, the screen starts changing all it's and the phone settings. I change to a £5.99 Casio on a boat.

One day, apple is rumoured to develop touchscreen technology that works wet, but until then, don't bother, it's just good money after bad.

Perhaps the same could be said of ipads for navigation. IMHO it's a Bad Plan to put any reliance on fragile electronics for anything safety critical but that doesn't mean that such devices can't be useful in good conditions. I have a casio for "serious" sailing (timing for astro, alarm for waking me for my watch) but mostly I'm a fair weather sailor these days with not the slightest intention of getting wet. Whilst it wouldn't be something I think I desperately need I can see how an anchor alarm, depth alarm, anchor remote etc. on the wrist on days that are nice enough to not wear gloves could be appealing to some.

I doubt the original question implied buying an apple watch for boat use, more just about the availability of sailing apps for the apple watch some people already have.

Agree with the wet issue, I stopped using mine whilst actually at the helm as each time my cuff moved over the face it would zoom in or change screen. Otherwise did not find yet many apps that were designed to work with the watch as well as iPad etc

I think there is a nice MOB app called MOB Assistant. Haven't bought it yet.
I got an apple watch last year for Christmas and haven't found any use for it while sailing. except for the timer, which is handy as an alarm to check pos/write logbook etc. You could use Siri to dictate log entry I guess.
That said, last year a guy solo sailing in the Netherlands fell overboard and used it to call for help.

Well I bought one this year. And I’m thinking it will be really useful to allow me to send and receive phone calls and texts when I’m at the helm. While the iPhone can be left secure in the cabin.
