App chart plotter download for Iphone

I've got the 3g version so haven't done the MiFi. iPlayer only works over wifi, Portishead has BTOpenzone and its included in my tariff. Over 3g I was using yamgo.mobi for live TV but it looks like they have taken BBC1 off sadly.

The Spectrum wifi in Swanwick isn't wonderful, so when it plays up I fall back on the MiFi (if I remember to take it to the boat).

Using the MiFi fools the iPad and iPhone into thinking they have a wifi connection (well, they do, so it isn't really fooling them), so things that might not run on their internal 3G will run when they're given access to a different 3G but over wifi... you may be confused at this point but at least I know what I mean :-)

SWMBO got the 3G iPad too and has had it since they came out, but hasn't activated a 3G account as she's found it isn't often she needs it, so much wifi around now and it's rare to be out and about carrying an iPad. Wonder if they'll bring out an iPad mini (halfway between iPad and iPhone)?

I use iNavX on the iPad, with Navionics charts. I find that the Navionics app is more a map browser than a navigational tool. iNavX can handle grib files, AIS and instrument overlays (NMEA and serial to wifi via a dongle).

I looked at that but couldn't make much sense of it, though I remember you said it was more nav orientated than the Navionics app. Must be me...

Navionics is more of a browser for sure, but you can create routes and it does give you a current bearing so you can work out whether you are on track, but it does require some thought. I used it with a friend to navigate down the severn estruary in mist a few weeks ago and it worked perfectly. Just had a quick look at iNavX, looks interesting, what is the story with charts, does it have the same coverage, do you have to buy them separately?

I would also be very interested to hear from an iNavx user on their experience. Particularly interested in have you integrated AIS, other instruments like tactic that use tcp/ip interfaces, do you have uk tide data and if so where from. I understand you buy the Navionics charts separately, have not looked at the cost of that yet.
