In other times and other places, people are punished, even with death, for denying an object of veneration. Today in Britain people feel free to insult any religion and its adherents but have times changed? Not a bit of it!

Say anything less than worshipful of any of these objects of veneration, even tongue in cheek, and the lynch mobs come out of the woodwork.

Any others we need to be careful with?

And the RYA....well...they have cut syllabuses in half, rather like all the other examining bodies interested in swelled pass statistics I should not wonder.

Anyone criticizing Kristin Scott Thomas or the buildings of Mies van der Rohe clearly is in a state of sin and should be re-educated, or burnt.

I'll add to the list of architects whom I wish to add to the visiting list of the Spanish Inquisition (whom no-one ever expects) that of ROC, who design in-house lots of school buildings, and who do not shy from putting the kitchens beneath the staff rooms and study centre.

oh, and Lord Gherkin of "I'll copy that aircraft wing and charge the Chinese millions for creativity".

No, I don't like fancy architects.

Apostasy means the abandonment of one's own religious belief.
You seem to be talking about the fashion for attacking other people's sacred cows.
Not at all. I am talking about the fashion for attacking anyone who questions the accepted beliefs of the tribe. I could have said heresy but I was feeling like being a little different today.

Anyone who dares suggest that Bavaria yachts are even the slightest bit inferior to a custom Swan is crucified on these forums.

And I would never dare claim that it might even be possible that Helen of Troy was a fraction more attractive than Sam Davis.
