Apelco radar info

The boat i have recently purchased has numerous electronics inc a apelco ldr9900 radar.
Although it fires up with light going from red to green have not been able to get anything on screen.
Screen is live as contrast button works.also range buttons light up.
Boat has been stood for 3yrs unused so am expecting t.here to be a problem or am i just not using correctly.
Any advice appreciated

I remember Apelco from 30 yrs ago and think it was bought to by Navico or Raymarine

Most radars start up on stand-by. Are you pressing the scan button? If so can you hear the scanner rotating?
