Yes I have AP navigator filling a hole next to my dash, thats about all its any use for:) the Loran C network was decomissioned over 10 years ago, although they may have made a gps version.

I think you will find the AP navigator was Decca.

the very last versions could be converted to GPS but not really worth it. Probably not possible now anyway.

AP Navigator

Unfortunately the above members are referring to the old AP Navigators, the new models are all perfectly capable GPS units.

Mine receives input from the B&G NMEA bus and displays true wind (compensating for tide), set and drift based on this info (see pic). It broadcasts NMEA data to the B&G system, the Autohelm and a multiplexer which combines it with AIS input to a USB and WiFi signal.
Using a ruggedised laptop as my plotter I have all the data one could possibly want, including water temperature ;), either at the chart table through the USB cable, or outside over the WiFi network.

NMEA is a bit tricky with 'A', 'B', + and -, shield, etc. But have a look on the internet, read the manuals and things should fall into place.

So to answer your question: Depending on what you have it is most definitely worthwhile trying to connect them. Just check the model number.

For thos who have Decca AP Navigators and what more useful space fillers: I have three Mk 8's and two antennas spare.
