Anyone used Val Wyatt Wargrave for mooring?

I have never moored there barring one winter when I left a boat to be sold. Sad to say they didn't take much care of it but that's another story.

Val Wyatts is ideally suited for a quick cruise down to Henley and up to Reading. If you want to strike further afield there's quite a few places you can get to in a day. It's quite a convenient part of the river to be located.

Thinking about options for this year. No Regrets being at Bray has scared me off....

There are TWO of 'em at the moment /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It would be a great spot to moor, ideal location as byron says, the guy in the chandlery is really good and PH marine there were good. Never got on with the brokerage and yard side very well though, they know how to charge, bit too much easy money nearby was always my impression.

Not been in there for years but looks well kept same boats been there for decades so must have something going for it, similary pricey though.

Kept a 13footer there once for Henley week and they never charged, or we forgot to pay /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Used to moor at Val Wyatt. We moved as SWMBO didnt like it there but I thought it was OK.

You will have to start on the opposite bank until a mooring becomes available which means a row in the dinghy.

Moorings are cheaper than a lot of marinas and you can pay quarterly which is good. Funny eddy current on the finger berths which sorts the men out from the boys boathandling wise.

Has been know to flood very badly there and hence they take all craft out for the winter. (Lift out is supposed to be free - it is, but they will stuff you for the pressure wash!)

Both use the same engineer - caution recommended. PM me and I will tell you why.

Come back to Harleyford, you know you want to.

Bushnells is clean tidy and very well run. However the son is a bit of a Jobsworth.

Harleyford was fine until a huge double decker plastic thing moved in next door. Couldn't stand the constant rumble of the bowthruster! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Glad I was two up from you then, otherwise I would be wondering where the noise was coming from as I dont have a bowthruster!

....they are for peeps that cant handle their boats! (aint that right Ian!) /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Apparently won't take wooden boats......Now on the Thames I find that an amazing policy.

And if by jobsworth you mean very rude on the phone, then I get what you mean.

Yes that used to be quite common, got similar answers years ago from various yards when looking for wooden boat mooring, Hambledon used to do that although they will take a look at your boat and approve it.

Surprising with the current economic climate, would have thought there would be much more money to be earnt maintaining a wooden boat for clients?

I can understand marinas being unhappy about decaying wooden boats - equally they should not like the mess that some GRP boats are in. But a no wooden boat policy just upstream from Henley strikes me as very strange.

Bet you were also one of those people who rubbished disc brakes when they started to be fitted on cars 'cos you said you knew how to stop a car anyway!

Bowthrusters wont stop them crashing into you if the helmsman is that bad, it will just make more noise whilst its doing it. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
