I've bought quite a few cheap items from Banggood. Delivery tends to be slow. Quality is what you'd expect from bargain-basement Chinese goods. One item I bought wasn't as described, and they refunded without quibble.

Yeah I've used it numerous times & never had a problem. Delivery can be slow or occasionally surprisingly quick, rarely anything in between. Also worth checking Aliexpress and Gearbest - sometimes one of them will have what you can't get on the other...

Check out aliexpress, a lot of amazon sellers just get their kit from aliexpress, if you dont mind the delivery time you can save a fortune. 100Ah lithium batteries on amazon, £500+, identical batteries on aliexpress, talking £220. A lot of aliexpress sellers have depots in Spain, France etc so the delivery can be amazing sometimes (Too good when you order a trampoline for your daughter expecting it to take 2 months and it arrives 1 week later leading to zero room in her bedroom.....)

I have used AliExpress a few times the last year, but it's only good if the vendor has a good reputation or if the goods are so inexpensive that you don't mind taking a risk with them. AliExpress as a whole has a terrible reputation, and you have to take an attitude that it arrives when it arrives because the parcel tracking and customer service is a joke - things usually turn up eventually.

r/Aliexpress - aliexpress in a nutshell

I would never buy an SD card or flash memory from AliExpress, because the site is rife with fakes. A solar panel / charger is the sort of thing I would favour a UK or EU supplier for - the savings would have to be considerable to make me chance it.

I have the impression of Banggood that it's similar - I used to hear a lot of horror stories about people buying mobile phones from there. These are the sort of sites which will under-declare the value of your goods, so you don't have to pay VAT / import duty, and they're often the only way to buy obscure models of mobile phone or other electronics.

Well it took a punt on a 12v 100w panel discribed 19v 4.5 amp.. With 10a solar control. $48.
On getting the Comfirmed payment receipt it said 21"x 11"sized?

Okay if it works for keeping the starter battery charged I suppose

So about 200 bucks worth of goods for 50. How do you imagine that will go?

With a bit of research, probably not too badly. There's a fair chance the $200 is simply a 'drop ship' of the same kit - there aren't that many manufacturers of solar panels, and most are in China .. so really, it doesn't matter too much where you buy from.

I buy regularly from AliExpress, Banggood and Gearbest .. and not had any problems thus far.
I bought a 3D printer from Banggood a few years ago that took more than 3 months to arrive, but it was a named brand with a big discount and I wasn't in a hurry; I had a slight problem after a year (a fan failed) and it was replaced quickly with no quibble, so after-market customer service was fine.

One thing to be aware of .. since Brexit, AliExpress (and some others) have started charging UK VAT on top of the list prices at point of sale, so check before committing.

Yes, there are some fakes around, but they aren't limited to the Chinese on-line bazaars.

I bought a particular design of boarding ladder off a Chinese web site (Not Banggood) looked identical to the one from UK chandleries. UK £360 & 3 week delivery I think, I was prepared to take a risk since the Chinese on was £80 or so including delivery. Can't remember how long delivery took but it wasn't excessive, maybe a week, maybe 2 but it was identical to the pictures of the chandlery ones. Very pleased with it.

Yes, but we're not talking about the same kit here, we're talking about random parts with lots of alarm bells - the solar panel for instance is way too small to be 100W. I totally get the drop ship thing, and I absolutely don't have an issue with China. As I said earlier, regardless where you buy from a rip off scam is a rip off scam. Know the value of the goods you're buying, and if someone is suggesting they can get you those goods significantly cheaper then you need to understand specifically why.

You are correct of course, the site shows you a jumble of panels discribed as 12v 24v 100w. With a control
It's only after payment the size you have paid for is reveled. 21" x 11" is not going to do much.
If it turns up ?
