anyone use a power boat near Weston Super Mare? - i am looking for advice pls

I am in the process of buying a powerboat to use for wakeboarding. I havent really used one before so wanted advice of best places to launch it near WSM - any advice would be great - thanks

Portishead is your safest bet. Launch via the marina slip, and exit through the lock. You need to be cogniscent of tide timing, the lock operates 3 hours either side of high water. Plenty of good advice from the marina, and Advance Engineering.

thanks I will look into that - sounds a good option - do I need a permit or something and where would I leave the trailer?

No permit, as you will be on the sea. You will have to pay to use the slip, and I think this will cover the cost of parking your rig.

There is (still, hopefully) a slip at Burnham. Launched a boat there many years ago. Obviously need to get the tides right. Worth investigating further, it was free at that time.

Have a look at Uphill Boat Centre on the edge of Weston. Tidal but no locks to worry about and you can maybe wakeboard in the entrance channel at the seaward end.
