The thought of a 14 stone Danny de Vito replica (me) on a Jetski is unedifying to say the least.
The berk considering this challenge is my younger brother, who refuses to believe he is 47.

I found the jetskichallenge, and the press clipping advertising it, and the blog, but it all trailed off with no finish. How did he do?

I did a run from Rhos on Sea to the Wirral (20 miles ?) in the 90's on a Seadoo. Its fun at first but after about 20 mins every wave you hit or jump off just hurts. I couldnt walk for a week afterwards.

The thought of doing it for 2000miles /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I agree, I love my Bayliner and would happily spend all day in it with its comfy seats listening to the radio or some relaxing CD's, but even i wouldn't attempt to go round the UK in it even if I had the knowhow or ability! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

From memory he got as far as Scotland . The fog came down and had to be ecsorted in by the RNLI.
I cant remember if he carried on or not.

Just phone ahead

and order Dominos Pizza. They'll have one waiting at North Foreland, another at Spurn Head... you get the picture.

No, but if they go past me twice, it will give me a second chance with the cannon /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A modern ski depending on sea conditions and riding style can cover 70-80 miles on a tank of fuel, some models such as the 2 Stroke Direct Injection craft from Sea-Doo such as the RXDI and XP DI or Four Stroke Polaris MX140 will go for much longer, newer craft such as the Four Stroke 4-Tec RXP, RXT are less efficient as they produce 215HP but will run to the following:

Full throttle, 70 minutes to use 64 litres on flat water, 50 knots.

Half throttle, 20-25 knots, 3-4 hours in typical small Solent chop.

Almost all sit-down PWC will easily circumnavigate the Isle of Wight without problems and with a little spare fuel.

The craft which the count crossed to America on was an XP with the same engine as the RX DI in it as mentioned above.

As for riding long hours, the body gets used to it very quickly, three weekends in a row and your body stops aching for the remainder of the season as long as you ride every other weekend.
