I have a Kirk LP2000 diaphragm pump in engine room, and it has been working great!
Today a red light came on in the contact on top of it. Manual says it is a motor protection device. A fuse sort of. To reset it one must turn off power for 2 minutes. I have tried that twice, but when I try to start the pump afterwards the light comes on instantaneously.

Vendor says its been in sale for 30 years. So I was hoping someone on here have some intimate knowledge of it :)

I’m on my second one of these, and it has happened a couple of times to me, both times it was caused by debris in the intake hose. I guess the motor gets too hot if the flow is restricted.

Oh rly! The protection did not save it? Did you change the motor, and were back in bissniss? I am mounting a sensor that will give me notification on smartphone if the pump starts. Got this set for like 100$ from my insurance company.

So I disassembled the plug and tried putting the live wires directly on to the pump motor. -Nothing. But I then learned that the wire voltage was 25V when the pump is not supposed to be running. IE when neither float nor manual switvh is closed. When switch is closed voltage goes up to 26V. So now I believe that something in the control box also must have gone haywire. Controls probably went haywire first. Making the pump run all the time, until it got so hot it died... :( Very expensive episode...

Parts list from my domestic supplier. Prices in NOK. Jesus it hurts...
