It is a cradle, looks homemade and not very well engineered. The support legs can be still seen on the windward side with props which are long, thin and acting in compression. I am not surprised it collapsed under high side winds.

I agree. It was the timber poles in the foreground that I was looking at. It's not the kind of cradle I referred to in my previous post!

The cradles belong to the marina i think the timbers are to prop up the stern ,so has the guy got a claim against the marina
 
Fox`s marina lower boat storage area, the Yardies moved most of the boats out to higher ground. the water breached the newly raised sea wall.
They were on site in attendance most of the night.
The Saab floated from near the mast rack to its present position & that is "Fox Cub" the marina launch they brought down to patrol the flooded area.
The Broon 37 came off of its cradle & is leaning against the mast rack
Many boat owners owe them a beer

Don't be sorry...... But I still think that the vibrations set up when the mast is left erected may have been a contribution to the collapse. My mast was always removed when on the hard to prevent the stresses caused by wind turbulence. When on the hard the vibration cannot disparate the same as when afloat.

clearly GIBS boat sales are making so much money they don't need parts customers! I could have just gone to a US dealer who could probably save me a fortune if I couldn't source the parts in the uk they all come from the states anyway

Aren't the Regal windshields supplied by Taylor Made? (I think mine was, on my Regal 2450, but in my own defence that was many years ago). It's a very long shot - but if you follow the link in this thread, you can see that they've got a couple of Taylor Made windshields listed. Got to be worth a try, no?

Hi yes you are correct it is a taylor made screen but taylor made flatly refused to supply( or even discuss supplying) anyone except the OEM.

regal claim it would cost $11500 to produce the replacement screen however they have found one in dealer stock which they can supply for the bargain price of £3000 inc vat & freight via a uk dealer

we only live down the road from prossers & I did go to the viewing but alas all the screens were for cruisers boats

so I've just ordered & paid for £3k worth of glass lets hope it arrives in tact!

We were very fortunate ! The wind has pinned the boat against the pontoon , totally flattening the fenders and the stainless steel exhaust outlet had been scraping the pontoon and its all buckled. Priced a new one and its £33 so consider myself lucky.
More wind forecast for tomorrow ( 80mph+) so fingers crossed ( 118mph recorded last time in Ardrossan)

I will be but the screen had to be paid for before order & I don't want a long delay while waiting for insurance to agree figures so I just paid for it & hopefully will get reimbursed I'm in contact with the insurers & they are aware if whats going on but rather than try to get them to pay for screen then pay for fitting later its easier to just pay for it myself now

lets hope no more damage in todays storm!
