Anyone seen these interior lights before please?

Ideally I'd love to know what make / model they are, but also I can't see how to get them apart. I'd like to put LED bulbs in, and the ones I want may only fit if I take the lid off.

They're a bit plasticy and, as you can see, the chrome is peeling in places on some of them, but I can't see how to remove them if I wanted to fit replacements.

My best guess is that they can be disassembled by light pressure, prying the components apart, but I'd like to know for sure rather than break them through trying it so would appreciate it if anyone recognises them.

What boat are they off? Haven't seen that type before but looks like they can only come off as you describe. I'd be wary of the plastic having gone brittle and also whether the lid will close enough to switch the light off with the new bulb in place...

I'm afraid that's no clue. Good thinking, though.

Mine's a Van de Stadt Caribbean 40. I think it's hull 4 of the now-shuttered Jachtbouw Johan Vels.

Just prize one apart using a small screwdriver. If you're going to replace them who cares if they break. Then you can get fittings that take led's correctly and will not look scruffy like these do. If you're intent on retaining these, then pick one in one of the cabins, out of general sight to experiment on.

Is that a 10w G4 halogen bulb? Basically two pins held in by luck/spring/pressure/miracles

You can get LED equivalents.

Flat top screwdriver under bulb. Long nose pliers with a bit of padding to gently remove. No need to dismantle the light.

Well, I haven't decided that, yet. I'd like to be able to get one apart intact so that, for example, I can measure the screw holes (that I assume are holding it to the woodwork), so I know what diameter a replacement would have to be.

This form-factor of LED replacement G4 won't fit because its diameter is 33mm, and there's only about 25mm room under the lid when it's closed:

I think, looking at it again, that this form-factor will probably work:

I wanted to take the lid off because, when the lid is fully open, it seemed the contacts (you can see them in the last picture of the first post - a metal U in the background) would get in the way of inserting the bulb. But I think it will probably fit past them if the lid is only half open, or if it's adjusted whilst inserting the bulb.

I'm a bit obsessed with the idea of red-white bulbs and so far I've only seen them in these disc form-factors.

Have you tried twisting the shiny bit to separate it from the black base?

The lifting cover looks like it has grooves moulded in that sit on a pin on the silver bit. You could try gently flexing in both sides to release off the pin.

Without stating the obvious are there screws on the other side of the bulkhead?

Twisting the shiny bit allows the lighting angle to be swivelled. There's a fraction of a millimetre play if you pull on it, like it might pop out or …
Beautiful yacht
Thank you. ?

Nope.

I have all white version on my Dragonfly. The UK Dragonfly dealer might be able to get them or know about them. Chances are that they are Scandinavian origin as most fittings on Dragonflies are.
Thanks very much, Angus. Absolutely cracking - just what I was hoping for.
