OK Im lying /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Apparently its a species of frilled shark thought to have been extinct for 80 million years until this one was filmed off Japan.

Fishy Story

Yeah, I know him, thats Trevor.

nice enough bloke, but drinks like, well, a fish.

Its Chlamydoselachus Anguineus so there you are then.
Distributed world-widw, buts its rare to uncommon.
IUCN red list: near threatened by-catch of deep bottom trawls (although never saw this one myself) and gillnets. Utilised for fishmeal and meat. Harmless.

What else do you want to know about it then?

By the way found it in my sons Field guide Sharks of the World.

Yep, we do and we still take sand eels in Denmark, for fish oil for power generation (think that may be on the way out) We also take heaps of reef fish (which we dont eat) to turn into prawn food for far east farmed prawns! (Dont buy them!!!!!!)
