I guess the title says it all, is it worth fitting a rebuild kit or is it still going to leak like a sieve ? Rebuild kit is £60.00 or a new pump £240.00 but will be guaranteed all good. Boat is in France so either way a royal pain in the bum as will have to be done out there next spring.
Thanks for your help !

What problem do you have. They are really quite simple once you take the back off and look inside.

I have some internal photos I can PM to you tomorrow. I had one on my boat before last with a porous casing.

I fixed this with aluminium brazing rods after I had soaked the casing for several hours in a hot strong mix of fairy liquid.

I would love to see your internal pics, all I have seen so far is oil escaping round the whole thing and watched down the filling hole !
I don't think it is as serious as porous casing, just the seals inhaling gulps of air and ejecting fluid.

Had serious weep from wheel shaft.bought a kit,not even sure it was genuine VETUS item.Sorted problem 100%
Only difficulty was summoning up enough interest and confidence to dismantle everything ,knowing my past history of being able to only make matters 10 times worse than when job was started :)
Took photos as the thing was dismantled so half decent chance of everything actually going back where it came from.
Thinking back you may need some tool ???? to remove or fit a seal circlip ..............or maybe not.

Not done the pump but I did two Vetus rams last year - I was in Portugal so had a 2 week delivery on the kit - so instead went to a local hydraulic shop with all the seals and o-rings etc - the whole lot was standard off the shelf (as you might expect) for £9 - thats to do two rams - as opposed to £45 each for the Vetus kits. If you have the option it might save a few quid...
