I was gifted a couple of rolls of excellent doublesided tape that is working really well to stick my closed cell foam sheets up to the bare fibreglass of the hull.
I’ve used it all but cannot find a replacement anywhere online! Its 105cm wide rolls, really sticky double sided tape, with a yellow backing paper and the name Tesa on inside of cardboard tube. My searches only find tape rolls in the inches wide.
This is the roll

Anyone got a specific name for this stuff or alternatives?
Thanks.

You could try Hawke House, they sell closed cell foam with and without this stuff on so may well apply the tape themselves

Probably hard to track down because not many need yard wide reels of sticky tape; try the makers and ask for their UK distributor list, then contact those to see where it can be obtained. You may find it's unobtainable unless you buy a pallet or container load.

Brewers, the decorators' suppliers, sell TESA tapes. I can't see souble-sided tape on their website but they may be able to order it.

That looks very much like carpet protector to me. Is it definitely adhesive on both sides or just a bit clingy like clingfilm?

What colour is it? If it's just ordinary carpet tape is applying it in 2" wide stripes really that much of a hardship? The stuff is stickier than sticky the stick insect stuck on a sticky bun.

Its the peeling off of the dozen or so backing papers that would be quite annoying, especially when try to unpeel it gradually as you place the insulation up and into place starting from the leading end.
Its an option I have considered, but would rather use the wide sheets if I find them.
This sort of thing is what its betting used on.

You seem to be using the same foam as HawkeHouse, have you considered just buying it pre-stuck? Self Adhesive Closed Cell Foam 5mm – Double Sided (RW70) | Hawke House

Try Fosseway Tapes in Leicestershire and the internet. I've bought tape cut to a bespoke width from them - there was a minimum order but iirc it was enough to use up the whole log (which is the format adhesive tapes are called before being cut to width. They sell Tesa tapes, who apparently don't talk to anyone not ordering large quantities.
The stuff you are using might well be carpet tape, which has a latex adhesive.

May I suggest a quick check on the operating temperature range of Tesa or other makers' tapes ?

I used a double sided tape in a Landrover to replace the headlining, and the first day in decent sunshine the roof bodywork temperature exceeded the max stickability temp, and everything detached itself with long gloopy strands of sticky.

Steve
there is a tape firm in Cold Norton, Essex called Directa, was called City Directa
i bought several types of tape from them in odd rolls inc double sided. They advised on what to buy. I called in when driving past. It is not far from your haunt in Benfleet where you could take a couple of hours off to go & look
may be too late now but worth storing in the data bank or of use to others who need some

Be positive—Soundproofed head might be useful when SWMBO on form
