Anyone know what type of headsail roller furler this is?

Its the jib furler on my 1982 Jaguar 21. It is a strange system as the (wire) halyard actually passes up the inside of the wrapped sail.

Other questions for anyone in the know would be:

1) Are spares available (where I could get a new rubber/plastic rope guide grommet)?
2) What are the holes on the line guide bracket for? It looks like something may have attached to this in bygone days..

I think it's a Wykeham Martin furler. Doubt if spares are available.

It's a Colnebrook - the spar has a pulley at the top which the halliard goes over and tied off just above the drum. Spares no longer available I'm afraid, but a local machinist may be able to make something to suit. I suspect the holes are to 'fix' the drum with a couple of lanyards so it stays stationary when furling.
For a rope guide could you fit a rope guide as often used on dinghies - the sort with a stainless inner , not the all plastic type, made by Allen and others.
I had one on a Vivacity 20 many years ago and fitted a new Plastimo unit as no spares were available.

I have the same but I have a u bracket riveted on to where your holes are. A small length of cord is used tied between this and the boat to keep the guide in place.

Excellent - thanks everyone for all the info.

I have been thinking that I needed to lock the line guide bracket after problems furling last season. I suspected the holes were part of someones solution and this confirms it.

Now I have to find something to replace the split and worn rubber line guide, I may have to fabricate something.

Check the hole size for the grommet. An electrical supply shop might well have a suitable blank which will fit directly into the hole. You will have to cut the inner portion of rubber out but this is not difficult. I have an almost identical model on my boat and this worked fine for me. Something like this:

I have two old Colnbrook gears that I have replaced with new furlers, not sure if the same size as yours but it looks like the bottom drum you are showing, I think there was two sizes of foils as I tried to help one of the Forum members last year but the foil was a different size, drop me a PM with foil sizes and I will see if they are the same.
As has been mentioned new spares have not been around for many years but in there time they were a good gear!
