Can't tie in the sail number but it looks a bit like a cruiser 8 which is a clyde class built by McGruers. Some were built as 17t auxiliary yawls and it could be one of them.
Here is one
http://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/details/568/David-Boyd-42-ft-8-Metre-CR-1967/yacht-for-sale/
and the register at McGruers
http://mcgruer-register.org/listboats.html shows which are yawls
Gruinard Island for those who dont know.
When during the war we had time out from developing Sarin nerve gas we developed a very virulent air borne anthrax spray.
They populated Gruinard Island with sheep and then tried the spray out.
It used to be there were big red warning signs on the road side telling you that if you landed there you would die horribly.
It was declared clear back in the 80s I think.
There is some suggestion that the plaugue back in the 1660s was anthrax rather than bubonic.
She looks like jim mcilwraith's yawl?
Tho i have no idea if he had her in 2004, or indeed if he was in gruinard bay!
(Survey one)
Forgive the ignorance, but should I know Jim Mcilwraith's name? Where might be/was his local area?
Any idea of the name of his boat?
Thanks.

Any other Clyde Cruising Club members on here? Their yearbook lists lots of Scottish boats sail numbers, including my father's and he moved South in 1975/6! I cannot find my copy at the moment.
Sail No 3048. Classic Yawl circa 38' - 40' perhaps.
She sailed into Gruinard bay (in front of my house) in 2004.
I can't see by enlarging my image if she has the Fife Dragon on her bow.
I thought she belongs to someone named Scobie, from these parts, but I think his is a sloop, of similar design.
Is there a register of sail numbers, with other details of boats and/or owners?
Many thanks
PS. Quirkily, the image number from my camera/download is 3048 - same as the sail number!!

Just noticed this boat is sporting a red ensign, and not a blue one, so presumably not a CCC or CYCA member.

CCC is red ensign
To be a member of the Clyde Yacht Clubs Association you would normally be a yacht club
So which west-coast of Scotland club flies a blue(defaced)? My BiL did, so I should know.
