... of a standard deck water filler plug? Filled up recently, to find the O ring drop off the filler in bits, and forgot to measure the OD of the screw thread bit... inch and a quarter? inch and a half?

I put on a 32mm from the tractor box. The cap no seals properly but a bit higher than before.


But.... I think that fillers come in different sizes. A small box of many different sises is a bout a fiver at a farm suppliers.

I think that this is correct, I had to take my old one over to the chandlers last year to get the correct fitting, some were around 32 or 35mm and mine was 38mm.
 
Thanks all, I guess I'll wait until I go aboard at the weekend and measure... as I should have done first time. I'm not happy paying marine prices when I got a number from a bearing supplier for a donation into the RYA tin!

Well it was 47mm x 3mm, 10 from ebay for £2.50 inc postage
