Anyone in Port Grimaud

Ive posted on Scuttlebutt about moving to Port Grimaud Port Grimaud but not had much luck, any Mobos based in PG?

just the occasional overnight visitor in summer...

Just sold a cracking (as in lovely not falling apart!) San Lorenzo 70 to a Brit who is on his way there where he plans to base himself for the next few years.
He is currently enjoying the winter sun in Greece and making his way to PG over the next few weeks.
I have a good chum who is a local broker near PG if it's any help.

I too don't know of any posters on here based in PG. PG is lovely, and I've stayed there as a visitor many times. Nicer then its neighbour Cogolin. Thing is, it's connections to UK are poor because of the long road trip from Nice airport. Fine for long infrequent trips; useless for weekending.

Remember also it is a boating zone that is much more exposed to mistrals. Fine for the day boat mangusta boaters in St Tropez, but if you are a more normal cruising boater this isn't good. You strategy might be to sail west, so if you are caught out by a mistral you can come back to PG downwind, but some of the nicer crusing (Caps d'Antibes and Ferrat) are east of PG

Hence why many of us are in Antibes area - 20 minutes to airport and most of the small mistrals do not reach as far east as Antibes. And if we want to cruise the lovely St Tropez/PG area on non Mistral days, it's a one hour run in a motorboat

But I repeat the PG itself is very nice. Good luck!

Thanks jfm, all noted, TBH PG wouldn't be my first choice but the berth is "free", my Aunt has an apartment there that has a mooring with it, my Uncle died a couple of years ago and she has sold their boat hence the vacant berth.

I really cant wait to get down there hence (two hence's in a post can't be good!) the reason to keep mods to a min and just get in the sun!

Ah, fair enough. Sorry I haven't clicked on the scuttlebutt link so maybe didn't have the whole story. No brainer, as they say - get your boat on a lorry. As I say the place is lovely, and the slight extra travel time (airport to boat) must be nicely offset by a free berth in the SofF. As well as the nice place that PG itself is, there are some beautiful turquoise swimming anchorages even a short (weekendable) cruise from PG and for slightly longer trips google image Porquerolles - stunning!

For PG mebbe fly to Toulon: A57 and down from Le Muy? Don't know the frequency of flights. Also some know my views on Toulon, which are not positive - all the more incentive to hit the highway like you stole the car.

yes the closest airport to PG is "Toulon airport", but its actually more to the east, in "Hyères" so quite close to PG,
I'm not sure about regular flights from UK
there is one airport even more close; in La Mole, but AFAIK thats only used for private aircrafts.

as JFM say's the area east of PG is famous and beautifull, thats wat they call the cote d'azur.
the area west of PG untill Marseille is interesting aswell, even more variation, and more protected coves for a overnight stay, but mistral blows more often in that stretch.
Toulon/Hyeres is on the edge of Golfe de Lion, and it is the natural border between strong less strong/frequent mistral,
I've spend the best part of 3 seasons in that area, places such as Cassis, Sanary sur mer, les embiez, les porquerolles, are wonderfull !

I bought my last boat from an owner who had berthed it on a private berth in PG for 20 years, looking at the log that came with the boat they had a great time, with Corsica being a regular destination. I flew to Nice and took a hire car from there.

The bills on file from a local independent engineer seemed to be high compared with even a main agent in the UK, so probably best to get any work done before you truck the boat. Am sure it will be great though.
