Anyone in Ipswich?

yes

I have a little 800w oil filled radiator running at about 50%....cant believe it will do much, it was intended just to keep the air moving as a way of getting some ventilation. Not designed for these conditions unfortunately...

you will be ok. we have 1kw oil filled on a timer ( Foxs) set at a little over freezing comes on every 4 hrs. the water temp below the wl will still be above zero.
one prob is those AWBs who have shower / wash down on the transom.
i always turn a tap on after turning off the batteries to relieve the pressure in the accumulator tank & water system

fingers crossed

At least I have no worries about the onboard fresh water: plastic 25l jerrycan and a footpump. Primitive is sometimes the way to go. But its ironic to be hoping for a good old Atlantic low with a nice warm wet westerly airflow....

It often seems to be the ice flows that cause the damage.

I wintered once at Maldon near the bridge. The fresh water ice from the Chelmer moving fast ruined a lovely wooden boat that year.

Very much doubt you having the same problem at the Haven.

...neptune

Hello there

We are over at Neptune, it aint so bad and nothing is freezing inside the boat. The ice is largely slush at times and only gets solid for part of the day and is pretty thin on the whole. Friday evening is supposedly forcast for a colder snap for us, maybe to -4. Only showing -1 or -2 the last couple of days and this has been early hours to 10 am ish before getting up to a lovely zero...

Regards

Enigma

THANK YOU

Enigma, that sounds less worrying. Real danger is probably that I will try to get here to have an in-person worry and stack it onthe A14......

update

Ice a bit more sunstantial this morning, still should not be too much of a concern to anyone.

8/01/2010 1600 hrs, mainly slushy ice, most of the marina/dock is clear of ice.
