From a personal point of view I like the idea

Karen's post refers to a traveling soft toy , why not have something similar , starting at one end of the coast and trying to get to the other ?

Maybe a bottle of Scotland's finest attempting to make its way from Kent to Scotland (we seem to forget that the coast extends that far) with anyone helping it along its way being allowed a tipple

So is this basically a Virtual Treasure Hunt? Rather than getting off one's backside and interacting with other humans in person we shut ourselves away next to a plastic flashing box and call it entertainment.
