Anyone here a member of RHYC and on a pontoon?

Very occasional oil smuts & a lock offering safe haven behind it & 10 mls nearer the sea ????? Shotley
green from the trees, small berths, busy - Levington
tide flowing through, most expensive - Woolverstone
Cramped work hbr with good facilities + easy access, damage to car, rust spots on deck - Fox's
cheapo up a cut ???
soul less but near the town + a lock - Ipswich - aren't there 2 in Ipswich?

Corrected that for you. :encouragement:

What's this about oil smuts at Shotley? We were there two years and didn't see any. (Our boat's not white and shiny, mind.)

Very occasionally there is heavy fuel oil residue(soot) deposited from a containership when firing up to leave with a NE wind. But not a great problem, about triannually which is why you missed it. Better than the rust spots all over topsides that is a problem in Foxs.

Woolverstone have swinging moorings that are serviced by a water taxi for customers think it stops running at 7:00pm but not sure. However the swinging moorings used to come with so many days free berthing at any MDL marina as part of a Club outlook package. I think it was 30 days so essentially you could spend 15 weekends in the marina if you wished. It also covered winter storage ashore.

Not sure if this combination is offered anymore so best call the office and ask for details if you are interested.

The rust spots seem to have stopped due to complaints to the EA & water suppression being installed. we do get dirt from the docks in a North Easterly

Yes, they are still offering something very like this. It is not that much cheaper than a pontoon berth, though - £307.15 per metre for mooring, £367.15 per metre for pontoon.

Some strange prices quoted there. The Woolverstone moorings are £85 per metre for the six months April to September. Plenty of marinas do a winter afloat package for roughly the same price. Means you could have 'summer' on a buoy and winter afloat for £170 per metre.
