There is a guy on the slip up from me that has a 32' Ackerboom, steel hull with twin Ajax(?) engines. It looks like a really nice cruiser under the tarps but I've never heard of one. Does anyone know anything about these? Any idea on price range for mid-seventies model?

There's a fair few around, majority of which have got wooden super-structures, I think they probably around the late 60's mark rather than mid 70's. Price range I would hazard a guess at anything from early teen's to late teen's dependent on condition!

<font color=blue> Sure! Ackerboom were quite well known in the 70s. One of the forerunners of the Stevens etc.

Nah...you're thinking of Aker Bilk, the Dutch international footballer who wore the No 9 shirt for Ajax (and played the jazz sax in pre-match warm-ups)

Yes.
Dutch yard, most common in 50's and 60's.
Other similar boats of the time included Kaag Cruiser and C van Lent and Zonen (most expensive).

Generally double curvature steel hulls, more expensive to build than current, and in my view rather boxy, single curvature multi chined hulls. Usually teak or mahogany superstructures (solid not ply).
Usually small engines with about 7 kts top speed, and buggars to stop, due to weight of hull/ lack of power.
Hulls rust like mad as before days of epoxy paints.

Very beautiful to look at when restored, but be prepared to have deep pockets if you decide to do the restoring.

Price? In moderate condition say £10k tops. In poor condition, very little.
In A1 condition £15-20k, but be prepared for lots of work to keep it that way.
