Need to tow a 25' 2 ton displacement power boat to Portugal in - probably - October.
Can hire a trailer no problem, but am then on a tight time budget to get it back to UK as charges will rack up daily.
So I just wondered if anyone had a suitable trailer which would be otherwise sitting idle and could earn them a few quid?
Obviously insurance/deposit etc would be arranged as required.
Would be looking at a timescale of probably 10 days or thereabouts.
Cheers.

2 ton seems a bit light for a 25ft displacement mobo. Are you sure that figure is correct?
I had a 25 ft planing mobo and it weighed around 2.5t empty, nearer 3t when ready to go.

according to the specs it's meant to weigh 1600kg! I took everything off before the boatyard lifted it on the crane and they reported it at two tons. My 21' Bayliner with inboard engine weighed in at about 1800 on the trailer, ready to go.

Good work. Many people seriously underestimate boat weight, and brochure weight is usually way too low, but if it's been weighed you do at least know the right weight. Borrowing a trailer than can take this weight might be quite tricky. It will be an expensive bit of kit and not many people are gonna be happy to see it taken out of the country by a stranger. How much you looking at for 10 day hire from the hire companies you have spoken to?

It's 50 quid a day. I'm also looking at second hand ones but they aren't exactly common. It would be nice to be able to do the trip down, launch the boat and then chill for a few days before having to drag the trailer back-without the price racking up.

They do come up occasionally. If you do find one, you could probably use it for as long as you need it and sell it for what it cost you, effectively making it free.
