Anyone got a spare £3million they could lend me? (lots of Pics)

harumph. Isn't this thread far too expensive for you, sir?

/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Yes, I know it is, but I have three houses brewing along nicely and I have no intention of letting any of my relatives get hold of the money.

It's mine, all mine, I'll tell yer.

OK, so I don't have the odd 3M smackers (OK then 30M in order to afford 3) lying around, but if I did, would I buy this?

I can't see the "boat" in this huge structure. I can see all the entertaining and the fine cabinetry and the drinks flowing on a sunny day - but I can't see the boat. I can't see the occasional pitting of wits against rough seas and the feeling of being "out there". I can't see the flat calm days and the hanging of an oil lamp at night as your anchor light in some beautiful and free anchorage.

Hard to explain really

Thanks for posting, great photos.

However it doesn’t seem as popular as your boat, /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif we couldn’t get a chance to say hello as you were always doing a demo. I suppose you get a lot of fender kickers, but it only needs one genuine customer!

Now a tip for next year, you need those little square carrier bags. I was disappointed I didn't get a neck band thingy they were giving to guests at Sealine, they had run out. Thankfully they had not run out of wine.

Hope it’s been a good event for you.

Not that hard at all, actually you explained that very nicely.
But the reason why you can't see that "idea of boating" in that boat is very simple imho.
Neither the builder of such boats want to sell that kind of idea, nor that's in the potential buyers' minds.

Not quite as much as this one then....

pulled up in the anchorage at Taormina one evening, dwarfing all the other "big flash boats".

Looked it up on the web and found it is about "from" £300,000 per week:

Nicely put Dave, I couldn't agree more.

Yesterday I went aboard the;

Oyster 82, I don't really do yachts but worth a look at to see what £3.9M buys, a superb fit and finish [and the same dishwasher as we have at home!] but a few strange quirks - escape ladder from aft cabin and the cheapo additional fans dotted around, obviously the aircon installation is not well planned.

Swordsman 40, know these well and love them, a proper boat. The new forward cabin saloon layout is much better, but still so limited by the narrow hull. Low production numbers boost the price so much though, can't help thinking if they could be put together for £100k less the would be a much more attractive prospect for some.

Princess 42, being mainly into older boats I had never bothered to have a proper look around any thing from the mainstream builders, pleasantly surprised, I can't argue with the appearance of build quality, superb fit finish and use of materials, But for me it does'nt appeal- its still a floating motor home, unarguably a nicely built and fitted one but still more motor home than boat. But compared to the Swordsman you get so much more for your money.

Atlantis 55, more edgy in design/finish terms but with some massive shortcomings that made it unusable - I could neither sit nor stand at the helm, I am only 6'4 so must be designed for midgets - thin ones at that. The materials used although imparting a modern minimalist air were already wearing badly and were grimy plus sharp edges everywhere, an apartment - not a boat in any real terms.

My conclusion - the majority of these are not really boats built to be used, but are actually flash apartments built down to a price and knocked out by builders/ architects who haven't spent any time or thought thinking though how their designs will actually work.

Still if that's the market tho.

So - Nothing stirred my soul - Apart from the Spirit 100' that is!

Reverie is a Benetti 70 metre
used to come a lot to Malta in first years under the first owner who only used it as private yacht
she was then sold if I am correct to an American guy who has put it on the charter market
she is the second largest Benetti ever built at 70 metres and was launched in 2001
the largest Benetti is at 86 metres launched in 1979 named Kingdom 5kr (x Nabila)
third largest is the recently launched in 2005 MY Ambrosia III at 65 mts, which for volumes and space offered is the largest
shipyard was founded in 1873 and was bought over by Azimut in 1985, after financial difficulties cause of the Nabila sale

who wants some more information can have a look here www.benettiyachts.it

I've always thought reverie took wedding cake styling/architecture too far. One deck too many imho. Though, the massive spuerstructure was built in lightweight aluminium, so she isn't as top heavy as her shape makes you think. Anyway the more interesting part of the tale is what happened to her first owner, a scandinavian. When he commissisoned Reverie he was Benetti's youngest-ever big boat customer, but alas his next home after Reverie was behind bars.

[/ QUOTE ] Four million quid, and the decks leak, erm, allegedly.

But I agree, she is absolutely stunning. There's been some criticism about her impracticality, which is rather missing the point, I feel............

I queued up and got on one of the Sunseekers.

I used to dream & salivate over these boats but OMG what have they done.

The new wood style looks like cheap MFI cabinets!!!!!!!

I have to say really disappointed.....

Now the Azimut 85 - OMG that was one hell of a boat, and the Windys were all beautiful!
