We had a great weekend even thought the weather wasn't great. Even managed a BBQ on saturday afternoon.

Returning at about 14.30 we passed a couple of boats we know going towards Windsor.

Getting back on the mooring in the marina was a pig as the wind had really picked up. Just as we moored the hale came down, then continued later.

I thought of the people we had passed and hope it hadn't spoilt their day.

Lets hope the weather picks up soon for all to enjoy. :)

We caught a bit of the hail and rain, but it didn't spoil our day:)
Nice to see a few other boaters also out, making the most of an ealy start to the season:o

Ex Libris is still in the boatyard so the rain/hail made me stay in The Bells.... nightmare ;)

Fortunately we had a lovely day out between Sonning & Temple Island....sunny but VERY windy: the locks were a nightmare, especially Shiplake where it flies down the hillside upstream of the lock.

No rain, no hail

Still beats a day at home doing jobs :D

If anybody prefers doing "jobs" around the house to boating I have the following available

Hedge trimming
Skirting board painting
Bit of laminate floor in bog
Hall/Stairs both wall and workwork need a lick and a promise.
Kitchen needs painting.
Err.....other tasks available on request.

Hmmmm...didnt realise we share the same house:D

Adding: the garden which has gone to hell since acquiring a boat!

We have abandoned the house since getting our boat. Today is the first day I have had time to do anything. I have no words to describe it.

The garden!!! I have the answer 100ft patio needs to be installed. :D

Well worth it though. We have a wonderful time on the boat even in the rain.. :)

It took us four years to realise that a House will not get the attention it needs with a Boat, and that gardens are pointless (Summer: Boating, Winter: Not in the garden)

So we bought a riverside apartment a couple of months ago. Views out onto the Lea Navigation, a couple of minutes from the lovely town of Ware, and somebody else does the entire outside maintenance!

Very happy bunny :D

The trouble is, one is taught from an early age that satisfaction and success is down to the size of the house you live in.

Nowadays, things have changed. Instead of 'living in' a house, many folk want to go outside and see what life has to offer.

Houses fail spectacularly in this manner!

Sitting in a huge empty house (I have been there!!) is tedious and boring.

Living in a right-size premise, with plenty to do outside of the property is IMHO at this time of life, something to cherish and nurture.

Perhaps in the future, if we sell the boat, I might just buy a house and flash car again, but in the meantime, it's nicer to go out either boating or socialising in the summer, and when winter comes, just sit down 'by the fire' and enjoy the TV/ PC whatever.

Our forefathers didn't enjoy what's 'out there' and couldn't judge!

Our garden is fairly low maintenance, with son getting paid to keep it tidy and cut the grass. Not forgetting Picking up the the doggie poop. :D

We lived in an apartment in the US for a while. Not good for a large family it can get rather murderous at times. LOL.

House is now clean and tidy. May have time to shampoo the carpet on the boat tomorrow. May just escape there to read my book. :D

Such fun!!!!
