Anyone for a fiberglass festival?

It would show that boating is affordable for all and could be a way to reverse the decline in boat ownership.

Modern trend is a change from ownership to usage a.k.a. renting what you need for only the time frame that you need it and then move to something else. Different from e.g. Ferrari's boat values go in one direction only which is down. So there is no need to hang on to something that you do not frequently use.

If you make a realistic financial calculation of how many days per year one actually uses a boat and what that would cost in either rent or ownership then for a whole lot of people renting is financially the better choice.

+1

There is also an increase in spur of the moment planning / booking and day sail charters, according to an acquaintance who works in the UK industry. However, one never really knows what future trends will take hold.

Which, in keeping with the usual fate of hulls made from that material, would be held in a couple of overgrown suburban back gardens.

Meanwhile the steel yacht rally will be held on a reef somewhere in the south seas. Where exactly? Nobody knows. Navigation is a tool of The Man.

Dont need to go far for an old steel yacht rally! Bruces Yard in Faro is full of them!

Not far for you! But the rest of us have to travel a bit..
Perhaps that is the limit of their range? before the owners give up on the rust :o

As for Ferro, mate built a Pinky ketch in the 80s, still good (and looked like a GRP hull) until a couple of years ago, when he was run down in the Atlantic .
