Good morning all!

So I have a Perkins 4.236 and it works fine. However, I've covered perhaps 20,000nm over the last few years and shes worked hard. I've always done all the work and servicing myself.

However, I would like to find someone that has a lifetime of experience to come and appraise it with me. Talk me through parts that I may have missed or need some TLC. I want to be there to learn and better my understanding. I don't want to hire a local company as they're always so rushed. The engineers in Mylor are too busy to do small thing like this anyway. I find a mentor type arrangement much more rewarding.

I will pay a good hourly rate, reward you with good tea, biscuits and a lunch the lovely cafe at Mylor Churchtown!!!

I have a small workshop on board and all the tools required.

Many thanks

Tim

I live in Falmouth but no expert on oily bit’s I’m afraid. If it’s a VP engine then Adrian from AJ Marine may be able to walk you through what’s needed.

There's your definite proof people dont read the OP !.
Which bit? Adrian is an independent engineer not part of Mylor Team. I was offering the suggestion as no one (inc you) had offered anything other than good luck. I’m aware that Adrian has “mentored” someone by going through service issues on their own boat.

I'm on the Isle of Wight, so its a bit far.

I ran 6.354's for 11 years, they are a 6 pot version.

I reckon if yours is NA, you'll never wear it out. Just look after the marinising kit.
