An observation about Oracle's rig - roll away the headsail and go faster, point higher. What price the slot effect then?

Amazing vessles though; but could the money have been spent in a more magnamous way? But I guess that is the AC and am glad the J class exist.
However does this mean in ten years time......
Yachting monthly will be reporting on the shortage of covered marina berths, especially in the 60-80M range (height).
The RNLI will be running an advertising campaign that sailing in more than 15knts of breeze threatens your life.
The BMF and RYA are pushing for all yachts to be retro-fitted with load sensors (at a cost of £250000), and linked via satalite so the coastguard can monitor that we are sailing within the limits of our boats. Unless of course you have a new boat and then they do not need fitting as they have been 'properly designed' and the builders know they will disintegrate in 15knts of breeze and 1.5M swells.
ARC have laid on a larger transport ship for those crossing the pond.....
