Anyone else hiding in Helford?

Not too keen on forecasts with sixes in them, so came over to Helford last night for a bit of protection from the S and SW. Anchored in The Voose last night, but have moved up river just west of Frenchman's Creek. Having already met Goldie in Mylor for the racing on Friday, and the original Dylan just as I was leaving Mylor yesterday, I wondered if anyone else was around. I might be here until Wednesday.

It was me you met as you were setting off from Mylor.
Would join you in the Helford but have to get to Fowey Classics and not looking forward to being rolled around in Fowey in this wind. Enjoy your stay!
 
Hope you have some mackerel feathers on board, the last few days the river has been thick with them on the flood tide. Mind you, the shoals of whitebait may have dispersed by now, but catches of 50-100 have been had over the last few days.
 
I'm not much into fishing, but have enjoyed watching a heron doing it. I feels quite a bit cooler tonight though.
 
I reluctantly came back from Portsmouth today in a F5-6 Russ as the forecast looks to be getting worse over the next couple of days but had nothing to worry about, it was a pretty rolly ride but only took 2 hours. Still learning every time I go out, never had big waves on the beam before...

At least The Helford is a lovely place to be holed up in, is the pub/restaurant on the front still open. Last I heard it was closed down and the owners couldn't sell. I may take my father over in the hired Shrimper in a couple of weeks. I'll look out for you in Mylor Dylan, I have to see the most desirable boat on the south coast whilst I am down ;)

Sounds like your having a lot of fun Russ, my sister was going to organise one of her sons for crew but I had already left -not sure why she didn't just call you but glad you got crew in the end. Next time your this way I'll return your invite for an onboard meal. It may not be quite as nice as your gourmet nosh up though!

I'm heading back over to Falmouth today - if I can find a gap in the rain. Trago Mills beckons, for a tarpaulin to make a boom shelter. And I need a ***t in comfort. I'm also planning to spend a day browsing in the Bosun's Locker.

Russel glad you are having a good time in Corwall. We have just been all the way up to Auray after overnighting. at Bono. Morbihan beckons ,not had to use tent yet but big sun umbrella from lidl has been in much use. They are durable and easier to rig.My preference to boom tent.

we were there too... but I don't "do" computers on board....

The mackies were out in force. We had to stop fishing after half an hour as we could not have eaten any more of the catches. We had hardly time to set the lines that one, two or three came up. I suppose that explains the large pod of dolphins which crossed us on the way back from Coverack being tossed about around the Manacles... I had never see dolphins in rough-ish seas.
