Anyone else have a great sail on Saturday?

Motor sailed down to Thamesport, then a great downwind sail out and around the Montgomery, hit a light squall heading back across grain edge, then a real nice sail all the way back from garrison point passing a couple of seals on the way, apart from the 10 minutes of wet stuff we were blessed with sunshine. Days like this make it all worth while :)
 
You were luck, we were down by Stangate when it started to rain and it went on for a good half hour. Fortunately we were dry enough in our wheel house, although there were a lot of very wet people in open cockpits. The wind was quite squally as you would expect. However, that apart we did have a good day, although we missed out on the seals. We did see some Dragon's if that counts?

Had a cracking sail from Woolverstone to West Mersea, starboard tack from Pin Mill to just beyond Medusa buoy then port tack all the way to the Nass Beacon. There was a good force three to four all the way there and I missed the odd squally shower that passed by.

Picked up a free mooring with the minimum of fuss and watched the sun go down to the sound of Brent Geese, Curlew and Widgeon.

Sunday morning was not so good but what a wonderful afternoon?

managed to avoid the fleet of sonatas in long reach, whilst on a port tack, skimmed past the kingsnorth jetty with inches to spare..........next objective to tack round Darnet No 23 oh s**t there's a million dragons heading for the same bouy......luckily they all formed an orderly que at the bouy and we managed to tack around them......not one of them breathed any fire at us either :)
 
Those Sonata boys are a good bunch, not known for abusing the locals, which cannot be said for (some) of the other lot! Our most recent run in, mentioned on here, was so comical. I feel for you motorboaterists out there, I haven't a clue where some of these people are going from one second to the next, without some sailing experience, you could well be buggered!

Also I forgot to say, we used to leave the oven on for an hour or two and light some tea lights for heating until the recently installed Webasto. It's more of a psychological heat, I didn't worry too much about carbon monoxide and all that, freezing was my immediate concern!
My mate Paul bought some tent heaters that run on Propane for about £25 in Camping international in Gillingham and has lived to tell the tale. Worth a look.
 
Must own up to be being a motor boater for for 18 yrs prior to starting sailing a couple of years ago, still lots to learn but will also admit to learning more in the last two years than any of the time spent on motorboats.

No it was something I had fancied trying for a while, all my previous boats had been petrol so the diesel situation didnt really affect me. Just liked the idea of the freedom you have with a yacht, what a revelation its been :)
