Anyone about to buy a dehumidifier?

Read in another thread that you may not be covered by insurance if you leave your dehumidifier running with no-one on board and it causes a fire. Any authoritative opinion on that?

I've just checked my policy and it makes no mention of dehumidifiers being exempt from cover if left unattended.

It also doesn't mention fridges, lights, heaters, battery chargers, burglar alarms and the countless other mains electrical appliances boaters leave unattended.

I picked up the same one as the Major £112 @ Nick Cox (Lymington) if your local...

Edit: Contious running, humidity stat/sellector, and optional drain...

Worked great to far a home and on boat...

Stuck it in a room @ home with all the cushions etc... off the boat and did a great job.

Well happy, finally (moved from a swing mooring) got a dry and warm (small tube heater on a plug in thermostat) boat - yay!

This was interesting to me as I get 20% discount at B&Q. Having bought one for £80 it turns out it's a DD122FW and not the DD122FW MK3. This means you don't get the external drain facility nor will it run continuously. From power on it runs for a max of ten hours before switching off.

Still a good buy if you don't require unattended use.

Cheers

That's surprising as I'm sure the one I looked at had the knock out for fixing the continuous drain pipe, must admit I didn't check the model number though.

Could be that the models vary across B&Q stores. Farnborough's my local store. I did consider keeping it and using a hole saw to get to the drain. That didn't however resolve the max ten hour run time.

They've moved to MK4 version now. Think it's the same as the MK3 other than the colour.
