My sprayhood, which is off white in colour, is definitely looking its age. It's very dirty and also has its fair share of the dreaded algae. I would like to get one more season out of it if I can and I am considering trying Renovo canvas cleaner on it.

Has anybody used this product and, if so, with what results? Any tips on application would also be appreciated.

I have been using this on all canvas work and am pleased with the results. Sprayhood was faded light blue and material was a bit limp. I used navy blue, which gives a good covering and hood is almost as good as new. However it does stiffen cloth with a starch effect, again I am please with those effect. Strongly suggest doing this off the boat, on plastic sheeting perhaps and wipe any runs stdraigh away. Subsequently did dodgers, sail pack, etc to match. Two coats to hood took less than a litre and lasted, with annual touch-up 4 years so far. Recommended.

Used Renovo for the first time last year. Started with cleaner (which removed some algae) then blue dye, then proofer (x2). Too soon for me to say how long it will last, but was impressed with the initial results and certainly turned an old canvass into one that looks and feels far newer. So far very pleased and can report that it has withstood the wet December! Have previously used another brand, I am already converted to Renovo.

There seems to be two products, the cleaner and the restorer. The restorer appears only to come in dark blue, which would be no good to me, I am assuming it was the restorer that wizard is referring to about the difficulty of removing stains?

With your colour you need to use the cleaner first and then use the Renovo Ultraproofer - this waterproofs the canvas and provides protection against ultraviolet. I use 1 coat each spring. If you do two coats it has to be virtually wet on wet because as soon as it starts to dry it will cause the second coat to run straight off its that efficient. (This is the one that sets on the fibreglass or the clear panels in your sprayhood/back canopy etc. if you dont wipe it off with a damp cloth)
