Anybody remember the Swift 800?

Thinking back a quarter of a century, I used to read Motor Boat and Yachting, Practical Boat Owner, and Yachting Monthly, plus the occasional Yachting World.

I doubt the Swift 800 would have appeared in either of the last two...but I have an idea it was a Christmas present, and my relatives didn't always ask which was my favourite title!

I wonder if anyone reading this knows how to find 'long forgotten' articles in YBW archives? I searched and wasn't successful, but I know there is a record.

I recall Yachting Monthly articles that found extracts from ancient Edwardian editions of the magazine, when it reached its eightieth year, so there must be a cellar full of old copies somewhere. I could kill a morning, looking through those!:rolleyes:
 
Thanks, Neale. One of the first times I've seen a Swift 800 in 25 years. Funny how there's nothing written about them on the net, anywhere.

Hi new to this thread,

I also own a swift 800 Camargue 1986, one of 10 that was made so i have been told.

I am looking to sell if anyone knows anybody that is intrested, I have copies of the original boat report, that explains the unsinkable aspect along with many other intresting facts.

Also have copies of original sales booklet.
 
Hi I owned this boat from 1996 to 2006 with a friend. she was then called Taag. We kept it moored in penton hook on the thames until 2004 when we moved it to bray marina for 2yrs before selling it through their brokers. When we sold her we left a copy of the motor boat magazine report on the swift along with wiring diagrams etc. on board There was two versions of the swift, one the camarge, which you have and the other swift ocean. They were built in southampton. Some had twin volvo engines, as a blue and white one called leaping pig.
We had ten great, mainly trouble free years on Taag and hope she keeps bobbing for many more.You will learn the art of going straight. If you drain the radiator make sure you you top up the heat exchanger as it sits higher than the rad and you will get an air lock and no hot water and possible engine overheating.
 
Swift 800 owner

Hi,

I've owned a Swift 800'Offshore for 3 years now and used it on the Thames, great boat and great for river cruising due to the large rear social area.

I've decided to sell in order to buy property. Feel free to contact me, I've just spent £1500 on engine servicing, new batteries, defowled and she spent winter out the water.

I'll put a photo on soon.
 
Hi agn.......been a while......look on boatshop24 u will see my swift 800 4sale.....just put key word in swift 800 then boats up to 25k.......Planters Rig will come up. She is Also a Camargue. Kind Regards

I would love to track down a Swift 800 - anywhere! I also have original brochures and PBO report. If you hear of one, do please contact me.
 
Hi, I also bought Freedom Swift last year. No information in internet at all 🙄 I would like to catch up with another owner of the boat.

Ive just bought a swift 800. would love to see the original paperwork, do you have it it electronically or just the hard copies?
