THinking about resurrecting my dinghy sailing days again after a 10 year gap and thinking that a man of of my maturity might be better off with a Solo rather than the Laser I used to sail!! However the price of Solos seem eyewatering!

If you keep an eye on the solo class association website there are quite often cheaper ones for sale. I can recommend it as a boat for the returning chronologically challenged dinghy sailor; they are a bit more stately than a laser and will give you a fighting chance of staying dry.

A Laser with a smaller rig would be worth considering - there are Radial (5.76 sq. m.) and 4.7 (er, 4.7 sq. m.) options. The standard rig is 7.06 sq. m.
