Anybody fancy an "Irma" bargain?

Bit of elbow grease, they'd be right as rain!

I particularly liked the suggestion of a 50' Fontaine Pajot cat with no roof as a day boat for $169!

Could perhaps instead make a cheap live-aboard for an outdoor type? :D
My mate and his swmbo is/was out there when the kack hit the fan working for Moorings, he wrote the article in PBO. Hes back out there now, "their" old boat which was impaled on a pontoon pile has been repaired and they are skippering it now.

The person who sold me my boat bought two Sun Legende's 41 which were damaged in the Oct 87 storm at Concarneau.

His comment to me was : Fibre glass boats are like plasticine : dead easy to repair. In one month I will have these boats ready for chartering."

I’ve had a close look at a few dozen insurance write offs out there. The extent of damage on the ones I walked through is staggering. An awful lot sank or partially sank, or got flipped, so basically most of the insides are totally wrecked. Plus holes, so hull damage to fix. New wiring, engines, rigging. What’s worth recovering? A few winches and most of the hull. Then to have a used boat with a history of sinking, so worth a fraction of new. The hull cost is a small fraction of a boat’s construction cost, so it’s hard to make the sums work. Unless they are in great condition most are worth less than zero. The good ones have gone now. The local boat yards have snapped them up, so I’d bet these are the rejects and worse than they look..

My thoughts as well.
