...is not the same one as that inhabited by the author of "Taking a Beating" in this month's MBY:

I honestly know no-one who waits till their tv breaks down before replacing it. In my world it's kinda: plasma is shiny; shiny is good, or whatever. Anyway tv is "beyond the rectangle" so I don't know what it is anymore.

And also, moving old nav kit down the food chain. There's been a place for that for a while y'know. It's called e-b-a-y.

Keep smiling ;)

I only bought a flat screen when the old tv failed & I only got an LCD when that stopped working & that will only get replaced when it dies.

My e/s on SR is a 501 that was fitted new when the boat was built in 1973, likewise the cable on my original Wasp speedo/log failed a couple of years back & I can't get a replacement & I do not want a bloody digital one. I don't mind spending money on stuff I need & use, but lots of stuff really isn't necessary.

Looking around where I berth I am not alone & I am sure Dylan W meets many more that sail with the absolute minimum of pricey electronics.

Maybe.

Mostly I look in here for fun and make the odd comment when I feel like it or, occasionally, when I have something worthwhile to say.

But I do sometimes find it perplexing to read that someone must be enjoying a more rewarding passage through this vale of tears by virtue of having spent less.

I think back over the last year: I've lived and loved; won and lost; made a fool of myself and sometimes made it through against the odds. So what? I hope Dylan W has, too; and I hope you have.
