Well, it's 20 years since was in SA and I had to resort to Googlemaps to get the highway numbers right, so I'm in no position to criticise.
I don't remember a bridge like that in Durban though, but I never did go to Vaaldam.

Once someone nails the location... can you tell us whats going on.... with no sign of a lorry... I can only assume the boat has wheels or it was dragged there by elephants....

Durban, Tollgate Bridge is in the background in the 1st photo. The boat is a Royal Cape Catamaran built in Pinetown - 15km inland from where the photo was taken.

I had the same scenario in mind, but I would have expected to see a bridge shaped hole in the deck house.

Spot on Stingo and Jkay, and you should know.
The Cat was being transported from Pinetown to Durban at night / early morning with a police escort and was being watched by the owner from tollgate bridge that is in the background.
As I understand there was a broken down car in the middle lane of the highway, the truck braked and the cat slid off the trailer.
I plan to move my new boat to Durban by the same transporter also down the N3 from Joburg but will go a different was as my boat will be too high to get under the bridge around where this happened.
