Have been looking at a project boat - Seacracker 33.
She needs a complete interior and would like to find some info about her internal layout. Has good comprehensive gear and hull seems good.
Anyone any experience of this boat for sail cruising and live aboard.
Thanks

Surely, if it needs a complete interior then the layout is what you make it. There are a few books about good yacht interiors, andnothing beats visiting as many yachts as you can to see what ideas they have used. Every boat has something to contribute, even if it is only something to avoid! Look for features that work well in the Boat Show but not at sea, and avoid them. Can you work in that galley while it is jumping around and at an angle of heel?

A great yacht. I used to crew for Humperdinck on one. Typical Van de Stadt design. It'll keep you safe in any weather. Very steady going round Lands End in a Force 8. Space inside is plainly less than in a modern design. Try the website, "www.seacracker.com" run by a regular on this forum.

The Bruce Roberts 34 ft boat listed above the Seacracker at Preston looks a better buy than the Searacker. I think that Seacracker has been for sale for a long time and would expect such a project to go for no more than £15,000 as there would appear to be loads of work required.

i know the boat. a mate of mine bought the hull in liverpool and completed her. {besique} . i.ve sailed on her and she sails really well. he always does a good job.

skippercouse. Pete not sure which boat you are referring to. Do you know the Bruce Roberts boat or the Seacracker? I would be interested to know how the Bruce Roberts 34 sails. Paul

van der Stadt design, moulded by Tylers.

Very well though of design and moulded by a very reputable moulders.

The design is dated, short on stowage, beam and speed but reputed to be extremely seaworthy.

All depends on how well she's finished, it'll certainly sail considerably better than any Bruce Roberts boat, though IMHO not as good a liveboard cruiser.

hi paul.

it's the bruce roberts that i know. i've only had a short sail on her but she sails really well.

if you are interested i can put you in touch with mick who fitted her out.

i'm away for a couple of days so email me if you want the contact number.

he's the best one to ask as he now has no interest in her.

she's looking good.

I have a Seacracker 33 (actually a Tufglas 33, the bare-hull version Tylers sold later). Built in Scotland, she has crossed the Atlantic, spent three years in the Caribbean and three in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, and is now in Long Island, New York.

She has been a fine sea boat, and I have lived aboard for up to 8 weeks at a time. If I were laying her out again, I would go for a different interior but it depends who is living aboard - a single-hander, a couple or a family.

Unfortunately, this year's planned cruise came to n end after 5 days when we were dismasted north of nantucket - a corroded rigging screw that should have been changed a couple of years ago. Now I am negotiating for a new mast, etc.

Good luck!
