You can anchor in Dover's outer harbour and there are mooring bouys there too but I think they may only be suitable for dayboats.
Depending on the weather and the wind direction there are some places to anchor but this section of the coast mainly involves going from one port or marina to the next.
The next nearest place I can think of for mooring bouy practice is Calais Avant Port.
Its quite nice to anchor a couple of miles east where you will be away from all the traffic and shelter is good, near south foreland I think but not got a chart to hand.
You're losing your touch Julie. Make them reverse 5 miles to the place they've already identified themselves as suitable for the practice you have in mind!Should be good chart work for them
Never mind the IPS, just tell them, " we are going to practice buoy pick ups now, here's a chart, take me to somewhere suitable" if they take you to somewhere unsuitable, you can have a conversation about their local knowledge, chart ability, and say, "now, try again" and keep doing it until they find somewhere suitable!![]()
Same with anchoring. the reversing was just an evil touch which I know you enjoy!![]()
As to my evil touch,My touch has been called many things but that is a new one!!! LOL
