Any news on that Sunken Barge

Latest from Maria Herlihy at the EA:
Service update Announcement : #Sunbury lock remains closed due to a sunken boat in the main channel above the upstream lock cut.We can confirm divers will be attending site on Friday 29th May with the intention of removing the boat in week commencing 01/06/2020.

Opposite the water point at Molesey there's another sunken boat. No bouy, just a boom that the wind has blown over it. I wonder how long it will take the EA to move it? There are so many shabby unlicensed boats on that bit of the Thames, I'd be surprised if an owner or insurance company was contactable. The EAs own public moorings upstream were 3 boats deep with run down liveaboards and I didn't see 1 licence between them.

Triad has been there for at least 20 years. I think it was floating when I went past last weekend. There did seem to be some recent work on it so perhaps it had gone down in the wet winter.

Strange one that as it has always looked very dilapidated but someone must be keeping an eye on it or it would have sunk years ago.

The EA will remove wrecks from the fairway but has no duty to remove those elsewhere and relies on failing owners to deal with them. I'd like to think that the 'new can do' approach may lead to the EA raising and destroying the sunken boats along the river bank.

There are plenty to go at, some have been submerged for a very long time.

Yes it's a strange one that. Bit of an odd ball boat in the first place. Do you think it's on someone's mooring, perhaps belonging to one of those houses by the road?

I have long been aware of Triad and have made previous representations. However, I am aware of some of the circumstances and, as long as it is not impeding navigation or a pollution threat, would not wish sorely needed EA budget money to be spent on this when there are many more pressing priorities.
Likewise the wreck above Bray lock which, also, is not impeding navigation, and the many other sad instances of decay and neglect.

Always assumed that yes.

The seven houses for the seven mistresses.

Whether they actually own the river bank who knows. Might have just "claimed" it at some point.

Poor old Triad!Years ago I submitted a photo of her to the old Motor Boat Monthly 'Ugly Boat' feature they ran every month and after they published it, Reading Divers wrote in with a picture of her when built (by/for them, apparently) She looked very smart then.
She's a bit of a feature nowadays, she's been there so long - we'd miss her!

C'mon Boatone!
What's so special about 'Triad' let us in on it! - surely after all this time she's just another eyesore which aught to be dealt with.
I appreciate the EA is short of cash, but I wish they would spend a bit of it to clear the junk and non- compliant vessels from the river.
That and a comprehensive and easily understood mooring ruling applying throughout the various interested bodies and enforced by some authority.
Shouldn't be too difficult, just requires some dedication!
By the way - I do appreciate all Boatone 's efforts on our behalf!

Not looking for a row, genuine request.
You have mentioned a new approach before.

What makes you think things have changed? Who is suddenly now pushing buttons that have not been pushed before? And why do you believe this/these individuals have a better focus than we have seen in recent years?

As I said, not spoiling for an argument, I really hope you are correct - I just want to be clear on your thinking. And praying you are right :-)
